Ultratherm Heat Pads 11"x17"

Reptile keepers love Ultratherms as a safe (low wattage), durable heat source that provides a very uniform heat output. Plus, they're so easy to use—simply tape either side of the UTH to the enclosure and plug it in. It's that simple and will outlast any other heat pad on the market.

Made in Scotland, these under tank heaters are specifically designed for the vivarium keeper. The 11"x17" UTH uses only 22 watts, and comes with a 6-foot cord and plug. 

The same technology as the Flexwatt Heat Tape is used, but it has been manufactured into a pad with an additional polyurethane coating to ensure moisture resistance and durability.

These low-wattage pads are regulated to stay between 65F and 95F (depending on exterior temperature). We recommend using the UTH in combination with a proportional thermostat or a dimmer to achieve precise temperatures. In fact, Ultratherm under tank heaters should always be used with a suitable vivarium thermostat. For species which are particularly temperature sensitive, or in environments which could prone to overheating, it is important that thermostats are used to provide full temperature control.

Low wattage, long life, and excellent cost make these under tank heaters great for using with snakes, lizards, inverts, hermit crabs and small animals. This is a UL listed component.

Information specific to Crabitats: 80F-85F is the ideal temperature range in hermit crab enclosures. This is best achieved with Ultratherm under tank heaters (UTHs) placed on the back of the tank to provide a heat gradient (a warm zone and a cool zone).

For sizing, choose the size that has a length closest to your total tank length, and a height closest to half your tank height. The size recommendations (pictured) assume the minimum requirement of substrate depth (though half of the tank height is the ideal depth of substrate).

For placement, the UTH should cover most of the back wall, sitting right above the substrate line if possible. A couple of inches of overlap with the substrate is okay.
